025 SigTalks: Dr. James Sigafoose’s Last Public Talk At ICA

With your host, Dr. Carey Pabouet-Sigafoose.

There are no comments or discussions on this episode. It is just my father and his final public appearance at an ICA conference. It is a long podcast at over an hour, but it is my father at his best! I hope you enjoy it and we will be back to our regular programing next week.

Maintenance, what does that mean to you? What does it mean to your patient? While being an active patient is of the utmost importance in getting your patients spine back to its optimal point of structural integrating, keeping it there is probably even more important and most of the times one of the most difficult milestones to accomplish in patient care and management. In the following video Dr. James Sigafoose goes over in simple terms why it is so important for your patient to continue on their chiropractic journey towards health.

What if every time your patient started talking about Symptoms or lack of symptoms, you could just set them down so they could watch a quick informative video explaining to them what is going on. This would remove them from the waiting room when they are talking about a reaction to the adjustment and allow you to have it explained to them over and over and to reduplicate what is going on exactly the same, each time, until the patients understands what is happening.

The Symptoms video is an incredibly useful tool in your office for one of the most common reasons patients leave, that being their symptoms are gone, or that their symptoms have not gone yet. Explaining that we do not base their care on Symptoms, but on correction of the spinal misalignments. This video is incredibly amazing in its use and simplicity.

This is probably the most AMAZING DVD, Dr. Sigafoose has ever made. Not only is it an excellent Chiropractic Report that you can use to educate your patients on a one to one bases, but it is a great learning tool for you, the doctor, to use and LEARN how to perform an office GROUP doctors talk. The Flip Chart that Dr. Sigafoose is using is also available, but we have updated it and it is now a PowerPoint presentation. This Report goes through everything, from the safety pin cycle to the definition of STRESS, how the brain works, the difference in muscle strength from side to side, balance, energy, subluxation, lack of motion, dysfunction and disease, rheostat effect, definition of Health and Above, Down, Inside, out (A.D.I.O.) and ends the DVD with an explanation of who needs chiropractic and why we refuse no one for care even if the patient has financial difficulties. You can see and hear how amazing this Video is and would make a great addition to you patient education regiment.

On this episode, we are going to talk about why keeping it SIMPLE so the patient understands clearly what it’s going to take to get and stay well. The video explains why we took x-rays, how much nerve tissue is involved and how long the body will take to recover. The video also explains what is happening when the bones of the spine are out of place and how because of these bones being out of alignment that the tissue cells can become dis-eased.

Dr. Sigafoose then talks about why, the outside-in method has failed them and why the x-rays will allow us to find out what is going on inside of them. The end of the video goes into the importance of time and allowing us as chiropractors to have enough of it so that the body can recreate itself with healthy cells.

Are you educating your patients before, during and throughout their care? Are you taking the time to not only let your patients know why they are at your office, but also how long they will be with you and more importantly what chiropractic really is?

Over the next few weeks, we will be covering all of Dr. James Sigafoose’s patient education series. Did you know that he has made a series of videos that not only educate your patients on what chiropractic is, but also covers everything from whiplash to symptoms and why maintenance care is so important.

Today’s video is entitled, Pre-Consultation and is four minutes long, but it prepares your patient to meet you for the very first time. This first visit is the most important visit your patient will have and it sets the groundwork for what will hopefully be a lifetime of care at your practice.

The following story has been a part of my family for over 40 years and it has taken on many forms over those years. First it was a story on a piece of paper given to my father Dr. James Sigafoose. He then turned it into a simple children’s magazine style booklet that he would hand out in the office and at any spinal screenings that he and my mother, Patricia Sigafoose, would do. Years later my sister, Dr. Selina Sigafoose-Jackson turned it into a video story and finally today it has been turned into our second Chirotoon, the first being “Billy The Life Cell.” So today on SigTalks, Sit back and enjoy a little bit of chiropractic, told in a manner for the most important patient in your office, The Children.

Dr. Carey Pabouet-Sigafoose

Dr. Carey Sigafoose, a chiropractor and speaker, is the youngest son of Dr. James Sigafoose. During his life, Dr. James Sigafoose devoted his time to speaking worldwide about chiropractic philosophy. After his father’s passing, Dr. Carey decided to continue the legacy of educating chiropractors.

He digitized much of his father’s work, and created an online store, Sigafoose.com, so anyone could access the incredible information his father had provided throughout the years. From there, SigTalks, a chiropractic podcast was born.
